Dec 20, 2015

Good Afternoon To All,

It sure seems like a long time since we got together. Missing all of you.

Over the past couple weeks I have been so proud to see so many of the Believers Concert Band playing in the Christmas Programs here in Gainesville, Beth and Chuck played at GFUMC, Dianasue was at First Baptist, Richard H, Warren, Chuck and Alana were at Lakewood Baptist, Rudy and Frank were at the Salvation Army Church, Jody, Ron, Lou and Betty played at First Presbyterian and Richard H, Sandy, Shelia and I played for Mark at New Holland Baptist. It is quite rewarding to have the band represented in the community in this way.

Since our last rehearsal your new Board has been meeting along with the past-presidents and Assistant Conductors to map out some plans for the next five years and to give input and suggestions for 2016. Below is a list of dates for our performances in 2016. Please put them on your calendar and try your best to work your schedule around the performances. Please let me know if you can’t make a date – that would be a BIG help in planning the music.

I have had a couple emails asking about a music list for January and the Cowboy Concert. Below also is a list of music that is presently on the web that we will play in January. Parker has the new music and will get it on the web between family visits. When anything new is ready, I will give you a heads up.

In the past someone usually mentions the “year end” donations – we forgot, so – remember, if you want to make a donation to the band, or an Honorarium or Memorial gift, the donation must be postmarked or received by the church office by December 31 in order to be credited to the 2015 year as a charitable gift.

Lastly, 2015 was a difficult year for me with the, what seemed to be ever changing priorities and many distractions. Thanks to you and your extra efforts and the fantastic assistant conductors, we were able to keep focused and end up with all of our concerts being outstanding. The fellowship and musicianship that we shared reminds me of our high school band experiences when we were all pulling together and laughing together. I have a yellow sticker stuck to my computer which reads, “More Fun – Less Work!” That is going to be the motto as we head into 2016 with the “Gitty Up, Move Em Out, Cowboy Concert”.

I look forward to seeing each of you at rehearsal on Tuesday, January 5. Between now and then, I hope that you have a very special and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Richard
